About the Myanmar Earthquake

On March 28, 2025, a powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck near Mandalay and Sagaing, with a shallow depth of 10 kilometers. The disaster has claimed over 4,000 lives, with thousands more injured or missing (April 7). The already fragile infrastructure and ongoing political challenges in Myanmar have made the impact of the disaster even more devastating. Tremors were felt as far as Bangkok, nearly 1,000 kilometers away. Homes, infrastructure, and historical sites were heavily damaged, leaving many in urgent need of shelter and aid. Rescue efforts are ongoing, but the scale of the crisis continues to grow.

About the Campaign

The "Support Myanmar Earthquake Relief" campaign is a fundraising initiative to provide aid to those impacted by the devastating earthquake in Myanmar. During the campaign period, 100% of the profits from the digital illustrations of the "What If It Was My Home" project will go directly to the victims, volunteers, and affected communities. The campaign is open for support until April 30, 2025.

Each illustration is created with the intention to share imagination, hope, and empathy. Every contribution starts at $10, and supporters can give as much as they wish to help fund essential relief efforts.

This campaign is open to everyone, whether you're in Myanmar, abroad, or anywhere else in the world. The goal is to make contributing easy and accessible so that anyone who wants to help can do so.

Mission of the Campaign

  • Offering support, no matter the size
Every contribution, big or small, counts. There’s no need to feel guilty or sorry if you can’t give a large amount. We’re in this together, and every bit of support matters.
  • Welcoming global support
This campaign is for everyone, whether you’re in Myanmar, abroad, or anywhere else in the world. Anyone who wants to contribute is welcome to join in a way that is easy and accessible.
  • Art as a symbol of hope and strength
The illustrations are created to share imagination, hope, love, and empathy, bringing positive energy into your space. They’re lasting symbols of solidarity and compassion that will stay with you long after this disaster.

How the Funding Will Be Distributed

The funds raised through this campaign will go directly to the victims, volunteers, and people in need. We will connect with trusted, independent groups on the ground to ensure every penny reaches those providing real support.

We plan to distribute the funds in two batches: one during April and another in early May, to provide ongoing aid.

Why Digital Copy?

We chose digital copies in this urgent moment to ensure most of our contribution directly supports those in need. Without physical production or shipping costs, more funds can go toward essential relief efforts.

Like any online platform and payment system, there are small platform, transaction, and exchange costs, but these are much lower than the costs of physical products. Plus, we receive the artwork instantly and can use it as a mobile wallpaper, profile picture, or optionally print it for personal use.

This way, we make every donation count and make it easier for supporters worldwide to help.

Ethical Approach

We recognize that cause-related marketing and virtue signaling can sometimes overshadow genuine relief efforts. That is not our goal. Our focus is solely to support earthquake relief through art. As an artist, creating artworks is the only thing I can do at the moment.

  • Newly Created Art, Not Unsold Works
Every illustration is specifically created to contribute to this cause, not repurposed or leftover pieces. This is about intentional, purposeful creation, not selling unsold inventory under the label of charity.
  • The Gallery is a Tool, Not a Promotion
This campaign is hosted on our existing gallery platform because it’s already set up with the necessary documents, tax forms, and payment methods. Using this platform ensures efficiency and avoids delays that would arise from setting up a new one.
  • Art as a Means, Not a Marketing Strategy
Art is our way to contribute, resharing with the supporters some warmth they can have with them. The focus is on providing real relief and sharing care among the people.

About the "What If It Was My Home" Project

"What If It Was My Home" is an illustration project born from a simple idea of transforming everyday objects around us, like a cup, a spoon, a road sign, or a rock, into tiny homes and beautiful living spaces. It is a way to reimagine the world with creativity, hope, love, and empathy.

I had this concept in mind a few months before the earthquake, intending to create a series of illustrations over time. But when the earthquake struck Myanmar, I felt I had to start immediately, using this project to provide relief and support.

This project is also meant to help those who have lost their homes, especially amid Myanmar’s ongoing crisis since 2021.

During this campaign, I am dedicating 100 percent of the profits from these digital illustrations to support earthquake victims, volunteers, and those in need.

I'll continue creating more illustrations for this project whenever I can, regardless of the campaign period.
